Day 7

Rode 68 miles today on a back road from Gillette Lake, through Ione, WA to Newport, WA on the border of Idaho.  Hardly any cars. Very pretty.  Thought a lot about Father's Day. If you are a dad, husband, relative, single guy-friend, or if we are friends, you have probably touched my life in your unique way and for that I thank you.  I encourage you to continue to fight the good fight.

My day concluded with Fr. Vic Blazovich (Fr. Vic), pastor of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Newport.  He's one of the nicest priests I've ever met.  He has the gift of generosity, hospitality, and a true servant of our Lord.  He is the pastor of the 5 Catholic parishes in Pend Oreille (pronounced: pond-da-ray) County in northeast Washington State.  He lives in Newport.  He was born and raised in Spokane. Prior to entering the Seminary, he worked in Seattle at SAFECO Life Insurance Company as a Supervisor in the Pension Department.  He was ordained on June 23, 2000.  He made me dinner and breakfast, and gave me his blessing this morning for my day's ride.  Meeting him renewed my spirit!
